The next time an acquaintance attempts to claim that the 97% consensus among climate scientists is an irrefutable fact, here are some facts that erode that patently false claim as if it were a cube of sugar held under a stream of water.
But what is most often overlooked is the telling result of a recent survey conducted by the American Meteorological Society of its active membership that showed fully 52% of the thousand or more responding members disagreed with the proposition that CO2 emissions produced by the combustion of fossil fuels were causing global warming (climate changes) that would have serious future consequences such as a runaway greenhouse.
Canadian Free Press’s Fred Dardick reports:
Nature Magazine, the academic journal that introduced the world to X-rays, DNA double helix, wave nature of particles, pulsars, and more recently the human genome, is set to publish a paper in June that shows atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) is responsible for only 5-10% of observed warming on Earth.
As explained by the paper’s author Professor Jyrki Kauppinen, “The climate is warming, yes, but not because of greenhouse gases.”
For the preeminent scientific journal in the world to publish Kauppinen’s work shows conclusively that Al Gore’s much touted “scientific consensus” supporting human-caused global warming is a myth.
The America Physical Society reviews its Statement on Climate Change every 5 years: the last statement was released in 2012. The APS board supports the alarmist position. An e-mail circulated by American Emeritus Professor of Physics Hal Lewis, APS Fellow Roger Cohen, and Councilor Robert Austin found that at least 37% of replies did not support the statement. Subsequently Hal Lewis, after being a member for 67 years, resigned his membership of APS.
Physics World reported (Oct. 14, 2010):
Lewis writes that climate change is “the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist,” and that the APS has “accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it.” He adds that Princeton University physics department, of which Callan is chair, “would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst.” …
Lewis is also one of the 160 physicists who last year failed to persuade the society to modify its “appallingly tendentious” formal statement on climate change, which it had released in November 2007, to reflect their own doubts about the human contribution to global warming. “Everything that has been done in the last year has been designed to silence debate.” Lewis writes in his letter to Callan. “APS management has gamed the problem from the beginning, to suppress serious conversation about the merits of the climate change claims.” In resigning, Lewis says the APS “no longer represents me.”
In a fresh challenge to claims that there is scientific ‘consensus’ on climate change, Prof Ivar Giaever has resigned from the American Physical Society, where his peers had elected him a fellow to honor his work.
The society, which has 48,000 members, has adopted a policy statement which states: “The evidence is incontrovertible: global warming is occurring.” But Prof Giaever, who shared the 1973 Nobel award for physics, told The Sunday Telegraph. “Incontrovertible is not a scientific word. Nothing is incontrovertible in science.” (See also: AAAS Fellow pillories Political Agenda of AAAS Board.)
The Canada Free Press article also reports:
Since 2009 more than 238 physicists including Nobel Prize winner Ivar Giaever and professors from Harvard, MIT, Princeton, UCLA and dozens of other top universities and research institutions have signed an open letter addressed to the Council of the American Physical Society saying the scientific data did not support the conclusion that increased CO2 concentrations are responsible for global warming.
In 2009 over 700 international scientists, including many current and former UN IPCC members, joined with Senator Inhofe in a Senate Minority Report to express their doubts over man-made global warming claims.
In the report U.S. Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg was quoted as saying “It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.”
In the largest effort to date to document global warming dissent in the scientific community, 31,486 Americans with university degrees in science – including 9,029 PhD, 7,157 MS, 2,586 MD and DVM, and 12,714 BS or equivalent – have signed on with the Global Warming Petition Project to state “the human-caused global warming hypothesis is without scientific validity.”
And author Fred Dardick concludes: “Many of the best and brightest minds in the United States and around the world are in total agreement: The so-called global warming ‘scientific consensus’ is a complete fabrication and does not exist.”
